General glasses cleaning and maintenance methods
Glasses cleaning and maintenance
Good cleaning and maintenance of the glasses can keep the glasses in the best condition and give you a clear vision at all times.
Cleaning of spectacle lenses
Modern eyeglass lenses are coated with a coating to increase light transmission and provide multi-functions, like anti-fogging, anti-blue light, anti-ultraviolet, anti-scratch (surface hardening), water repellency, anti-static and other functions... But the coating layer is the most fragile part of the lens.
When cleaning glasses, we have to be cautious on dealing with the lens coating.
First, gently flush the surface of the glasses lens with water hose to remove the hard objects stuck to the lens.
Use a neutral detergent diluted in cold water (eg: soap diluted more than 20 times) to clean the lens.
Finally, use a clean fiber glasses cloth to dry the lenses. When wiping the lens, move the fiberglass cloth to the side of the lens, don't make a circular motion. (Make sure that there are no small hard objects stuck to the fiber glasses cloth, otherwise the lenses will be scratched)
If you just stick to a small amount of dust, it will have little effect on your eyesight, so you can ignore it. Chemical substances such as thinner and hair styling products can cause great damage to the glasses lenses, so please avoid touching them as much as possible. Some cleaners (eg: toothpaste) contain particles and must not be used.
Maintenance of glasses frame
The maintenance of the spectacle frame is mainly to keep the main structure of the spectacle frame and the paint on the surface intact.
When wearing or removing the glasses, hold the hinges on both sides of the glasses with both hands, and then slowly put them on the surface. Avoid concentrating the force on a certain point of the spectacle frame to make the spectacle frame deformed. Deformation of the spectacle frame will prevent the spectacles from being worn firmly on the face, and will also affect the appearance.
Wearing glasses on the face for a long time, sticking to grease is inevitable. Grease will corrode paint and cellulose acetate (Acetate), causing a Dada "stain" on the surface. Wipe off the grease on the glasses frame with a paper towel every day, which can effectively slow down the formation of "stains".
Celluloid Eyewear
The first thermoplastic resin invented in history. Synthesized with raw materials such as nitrocellulose and camphor. Because celluloid is soluble in organic solvents and highly flammable. Europe and the United States have banned the use of celluloid, but the Japanese like the high hardness, unique luster and texture of celluloid and continue to use it. If the spectacle frame is made of celluloid (used in Japanese spectacle frames), be careful to avoid contact with organic solvents (eg: disinfection fire wine, thinner) and high temperature.
Small summary
Careful maintenance can reduce lens wear. But no matter how sharp a knife is, there will be a day of rust, let alone your pair of glasses? We recommend changing the glasses lens every two years to help you maintain clear vision.
